GUNDICA MARJANA THIS SUNDAY!

Gundica Marjana is when Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu cleansed the temple where Lord Jaganatha comes to stay after His Rathayatra festival. It is said that by cleaning the temple one cleanses one's own heart, making it a fit place for Lord Krishna to reside.

This Sunday June 29th, we'll be holding this festival at the temple, and we invite everyone in the congregation to come and take part in this event, which will start at 10.00 am. Please contact Taraka Mataji on taraka@in.com.au to register your participation, as there will be lunch prasadam catered for.

This is how Sri Sri Gaura Nitai looked this morning.

REPORT FROM RAMAI SWAMI'S NORTH QUEENSLAND TOUR

Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu predicted that in every town and village the chanting of Hare Krishna would be heard. Srila Prabhupada says that Lord Caitanya could have spread Krsna consciousness all over the world however he left that mission to His followers to continue.

Since the early 1970’s His Holiness Ramai Swami has been traveling Australia spreading the glories of the Holy Names of Krishna. In the ISKCON Brisbane centre we occasionally hear Ramai Swami as he passes through generally on his way north to towns and villages in the north of Queensland. Little we know however of the programs that Maharaja organizes and stages and little we know of the extent of Krsna consciousness north of our centers in Brisbane.

Recently we accompanied Maharaja for his Pure Bliss program in Hervery Bay. We all know how busy our lives become under the influence of modern life, work, family, hobbies, study etc…. so for one to take the time out to come and hear about Krishna is a good indication of how expert Maharaja has become from his many years of experience traveling and preaching. We can all take good counsel from his experience.

Around 90 people attended the program in the Memorial Hall at Pialba. To our amazement so many people danced and joined in the chanting concluding the program. It is a blissful program with devotional songs, a short discussion about Krsna consciousness, mantra rock with Maharaja’s keyboard and of course the feast. We set up a huge book/gift table which was very popular. Here there are no temples or restaurants, devotees etc so this is your only chance once a year to chant and dance. How fortunate for us who live near a temple, centre or restaurant. Spare a thought for those souls who are not so fortunate.

So we are praying that by the mercy of Lord Caitanya, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai and Srila Prabhupada, his disciples and grand disciples and well wishers that we can continue to spread this movement in these seemingly forgotten parts of the world. We take inspiration from Srila Prabhupada who says in Caitanya Caritamrta Adi 7.92

“‘My dear child, continue dancing, chanting and performing sankirtana in association with devotees. Furthermore, go out and preach the value of chanting krsna-nama, for by this process You will be able to deliver all fallen souls.’

PURPORT
It is another ambition of the spiritual master to see his disciples not only chant, dance and follow the regulative principles but also preach the sankirtana movement to others in order to deliver them, for the Krsna consciousness movement is based on the principle that one should become as perfect as possible in devotional service oneself and also preach the cult for others’ benefit.
