Come and hear His Holiness Mukunda Maharaja

Saturday 13th August
at Brisbane Temple program starts at 5.00pm

One of Srila Prabhupada's very first Western disciples, Maharaja succeeded in finding the premises for the first ISKCON Temple in 26 Second Avenue, New York in 1966 and went on to help put the Hare Krishna movement firmly on the map.

Maharaja then went to the West Coast where he organised the highly acclaimed Mantra Rock Dance with five other devotees. They set up the ISKCON Temple in San Francisco and later went to London.

The intrepid team of six recruited more devotees in London and later met with George Harrison. George inspired the devotees to record the Maha Mantra, which topped the record charts in many countries. The Govindam or “Cintamani” Prayers followed it and culminated in the recording of the Radha Krishna Temple album. Funds raised were ploughed into the opening and running of the new London Temple in Bury Place, home of Sri Sri Radha-Londonishvara.

His Holiness Mukunda Maharaja is emeritus Member of the ISKCON Governing Body Commission (GBC). He divides his time between New Zealand and India and spends most of his time writing, including a regular column with India's Hindustan Times.
