VTE Teacher Training Course One - 3rd to 8th July 2006

Overview


The Vaisnava Traninig and Education Teacher Training Course One is a 5 day
course consisting of 30 hours of training. Students will learn what
constitutes effective teaching and facilitation by learning:
How to plan a lesson and write a corresponding lesson outline.
Different teaching styles and methods, specifically interactive and
experiential learning methods.

How to understand the different categories learning, and how to
select appropriate learning methods for these categories.
The basic skills of delivery, facilitation and classroom management.
The various types of assessment and their purposes.
Oral-feedback skills.
Basic communication and interpersonal skills.
The importance of teaching by example.
The need for systematic training and education.

Students will participate in group exercises, class discussions,
experiential learning exercises, and group presentations; and they will
learn how to utilize these teaching methods by their participation.

This course is suitable both for experienced and novice teachers. It is
particularly appropriate for devotees involved in training other devotees.
It is highly interactive, intensive, transformational, and fun.

Teacher's Biography:
Atul Krishna dasa joined ISKCON's Melbourne Mahaprabhu Mandir in 1985. A
disciple of Prabhavisnu Swami, he served as a book distributer and
fundraiser in Melbourne from  1986 to 1996. He joined the Bangladesh Yatra
in 1996 and preached village to village for 3 years, during which he learnt
fluent Bengali. Since 1999 he has been residing in Sri Dhama Mayapur. He has been teaching Bhakti sastri in Mayapur for the last 5 years and has been
involved in teacher training for the last 3 years. He is currently
coordinating Bhakti sastri and Bhaktivaibhava courses in Mayapur.
